Dinosaur bowling

So I just posted about the slime and saw Max actually using the slime to bowl with his dinosaurs!  He set them up in the living room and was throwing the ball of slime at the dinosaurs!  How fun!  Now he is making dino fossils using the slime and pressing the sides of the dinosaurs into it and looking at the impressions.  Really, if you have the time, MAKE THE SLIME!

Slime

What's better than slime?  Nothing!  Max and I made slime today (3 batches).  Two of them I am giving to his Pre School teacher for a great sensory activity, the other is for home, to play with his dinosaurs in it.  We made both blue and green, but you can make whatever kind you want.

Recipe

Mix thoroughly
In a separate bowl, mix thoroughly:
  • 1 1/3 cups very warm water
  • 2 level teaspoons Borax
Mix the contents of the two bowls together kneading until it is fully combined. Discard any remaining liquid.

I used this recipe when I was working with a special needs Pre-K class, and am not sure where it came from, if you see it out there on the web, let me know so I can give the credit to the awesome person who came up with it!

Dinosaur Iceberg

Max hates taking a bath and has been REALLY into dinosaurs lately!  I froze several snack sized bags with plastic dinosaurs in them and made dinosaur icebergs to entice him into the bath tonight.  We also talked about what happens to ice when it gets hot and becomes water, why the ice cracked when we put it in the hot water, if things really were frozen in ice over time and what we can learn from the things scientists find in ice.  Fun little science lesson and a clean and happy little boy!

What you will need:

  • ziptop baggies
  • water
  • food coloring (optional)
  • plastic toys that are safe to freeze and have in water for extended periods of time (we used dinosaurs, but use whatever your child is interested in the most)

Have fun!

The Beginning

So I have decided to start this blog to keep a record of all of the fun things that Max and I do.  Hopefully this will someday inspire Max to do some of these things with his own kids or to just remember his "adventures" with Mommy.
